TITLE: Treasurer DATE: January 2026
LOCATION: Home/Church Office REPORT TO: Pastor Rodney Bowes
STATUS: Part-Time, average of 10 hours per week Rate of Pay: $19-27/Hour
SUMMARY: Serves as the treasurer of Mentone Seventh-day Adventist Church.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Overseas the treasury department
a. Recruits and trains volunteers (counters, etc.)
b. Communicates with the SECC about treasury items
2. Enters the weekly offering in Jewel
3. Pays bills and records them in Jewel
4. Responds to emails and phone calls related to the treasury
5. Works on reports for the following: website/blog, board reports, bulletin board, etc.
6. Reconciles the bank, files D2’s, and closes out the month
7. Deposits money in the bank when needed
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience
● No prior experience or training.
● One to three months of related experience and/or training is desired.
(Training for this job is available through the Southeastern California Conference)
Language Skills
● Ability to effectively communicate instructions pertaining to standard procedures and practices.
● Ability to present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups, or committees.
● Ability to write, read, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
● Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
● Ability to speak Spanish is a plus but is not required.
Mathematical Skills
● General math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
● Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
● Ability to interpret and solve problems in various situations.
● Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Licenses
● No specific licenses are required.
Computer Skills
● To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Jewel Accounting software,
Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software, and email applications.

Physical Demands/Work Environment
● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk;
sit; kneel; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with arms; and see, talk, and hear.
● The employee is occasionally required to kneel. The employee will frequently lift and/or
move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust
focus.
● The work environment is usually indoors.
● Appearance / Dress
● Since personal appearance is an important aspect of an employee's overall effectiveness and the
Mentone Seventh-day Adventist Church desires to project a uniform corporate image, the dress code at the office must be professional.
