May 18: The "Plan B" of the Burning Bush

May 18: The "Plan B" of the Burning Bush

Scripture: "And Moses said, 'I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.'" — Exodus 3:3

Moses’ "Plan A" was to be a "Prince of Egypt" and a "Deliverer by Force." It ended in a "murder" and "forty years of sheep-herding." But in the "Plan B" of the desert, God met him in a "Burning Bush." This was the "Truth of the Presence"—that God is "with us" even in the "mundane" and the "forgotten" places.

The bush was "burning" but not "consumed." This is the "Plan B" of "Sustainable Mission." God doesn't want us to "burn out" in our "own strength"; He wants us to "burn with His fire." His "Presence" provides the "fuel" for our "calling." We are just the "bush"; He is the "Flame."
"Turning aside" was the "key." Moses had to "notice" the "extraordinary" in the "ordinary."

In our "Plan B" lives, we often miss the "Burning Bushes" because we are "too busy" or "too discouraged." But God is "speaking" to us in the "quiet moments" of our "desert seasons."
Is there a "Burning Bush" in your life today? Is God "calling" you from the "midst of your mundane tasks"? "Turn aside" and "listen." Take off your "sandals," for the "place where you stand is holy ground." Your "Plan B" season is the "preparation" for your "Greatest Mission."

Reflection Questions:
What "ordinary thing" in my life might be a "Burning Bush" from God?
Am I "burning with my own strength" (burnout) or with "His fire"?
What does it mean to "take off my sandals" in my current situation?
