April 23: The Wisdom from Above

April 23: The Wisdom from Above

Scripture: "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally..." — James 1:5

In a world drowning in information but starving for wisdom, Truth is our only safe guide. Wisdom is not just "knowing things"; it is the ability to apply Truth to the complexities of daily life. It is "pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits." This is the kind of wisdom that comes from a connection with the Source of all light.

We are encouraged to "ask liberally." God is not stingy with His guidance. He longs for us to reach out to Him by faith, expecting "great things." Whether we are making a career choice, navigating a difficult relationship, or trying to understand a difficult passage of Scripture, the promise remains: He will give it.

True wisdom is always humble. It recognizes that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." When we acknowledge our dependence on God, we open ourselves to the "treasures of knowledge" that are hidden in Him. This wisdom doesn't exalt self; it exalts the Truth and serves the cause of Love.

Approach your decisions today with this "Wisdom from Above." Don't rely on your own intellect alone. Take every question to the Lord in prayer and wait for His leading through His Word and His providence. You will find that His "gentleness will enlarge your life."

Reflection Questions:

What decision am I currently facing that requires "wisdom from above"?

Do I "ask liberally," or do I try to figure things out on my own first?

How can I differentiate between "worldly cleverness" and "divine wisdom"?
