April 9: Walking in the Light
Scripture: "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." — Romans 13:12
We live in a solemn period of Earth's history. The darkness of the world seems to be deepening, but for those who walk with God, there is nothing to fear. Truth is our armor. It protects us from the deceptions of the enemy and provides a steady path through the fog of modern confusion. To walk in the light is to walk in constant communion with the Father.
Our duty is to "watch and work and wait." We are not called to be passive observers, but active participants in the work of spreading the truth. This truth must first be "planted in the heart" before it can be effectively taught to others. It is the Spirit of the Lord that takes the inspired word and "stamps" it upon the soul, creating a "holy, sacred joy."
There is a desperate need for a "stronger, more constraining testimony" of the power of truth. This testimony is not found in clever words, but in "practical godliness." When people see a life that is truly transformed—one that is patient under trial, kind under pressure, and honest in all things—they are seeing the light of heaven.
Don't let the "works of darkness" cling to you. Cast them off daily through confession and surrender. Put on the "armor of light" by saturating your mind with Scripture and your heart with prayer. As the day approaches, let your life be a beacon that points others to the safety of the harbor.
Reflection Questions:
What "works of darkness" (habits or attitudes) do I need to cast off today?
Is the Truth "planted in my heart" or just "stored in my head"?
How can my "practical godliness" be a testimony to someone today?
