April 10: The Beauty of Holiness
Scripture: "Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth." — Psalm 96:9
Holiness is often misunderstood as a list of "don'ts," but it is actually the most beautiful and attractive quality a human can possess. It is the "wholeness" of a character that is perfectly aligned with the Truth and Love of God. To be holy is to be set apart for a high purpose—to be a living reflection of the glory of the Creator.
The "beauty of holiness" is seen in a quiet spirit, a truthful tongue, and a heart that beats for justice. It is not a self-righteous display, but a humble radiance that comes from spending time in the presence of the Holy One. Just as Moses' face shone after being with God, our characters will catch the light of heaven if we dwell there.
Holiness also encompasses our lifestyle. Our choices in entertainment, conversation, and diet are all reflections of our desire to be "separate" from the destructive patterns of the world. This separation is not about isolation, but about insulation—being in the world but not of it, so that we can better serve those around us.
Strive for this beauty today. It doesn't require wealth or status; it only requires a willing heart. Seek to be pure in thought, sincere in word, and selfless in action. When you worship God in the "beauty of holiness," you are participating in the atmosphere of heaven right here on earth.
Reflection Questions:
What does the "beauty of holiness" look like in a modern, busy life?
In what way does my current lifestyle reflect a "set-apart" purpose?
How can I more intentionally "dwell in the presence" of God today?
