April 29: The Wipe Away of Every Tear

April 29: The Wipe Away of Every Tear

Scripture: "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying." — Revelation 21:4

The ultimate Truth of our faith is the "Blessed Hope"—the return of Jesus and the restoration of all things. The "sorrows and mourning" of this present age are "but for a moment" compared to the "eternal weight of glory" that awaits us. This is the "Promise #119" that can sustain us through any trial.

God is not distant from our pain. He "bottles our tears" and "knows our sorrows." The promise that He will "wipe away every tear" is a picture of intimate, personal Love. He doesn't just "fix the problem"; He comforts the "guilty soul" and "restores the weary soul." He is our "Father and we are His handiwork."

One day, the "everlasting joy and gladness" of heaven will "drive all sorrow away." There will be no more "sickening diseases," no more "broken hearts," and no more "final goodbyes." We will see Him "face to face" and "know even as we are known." This is the "future that is anchored in the heavens."

Hold on to this hope today. If your "soul is weary" or your "heart is heavy," look up. The "night is far spent, and the day is at hand." Let the "bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness" fill your heart with the joy of what is to come. You are not "perishing"; you are "waiting for the Dawn."

Reflection Questions:

How does the "Blessed Hope" of Christ's return affect my daily mood and outlook?

What "tear" in my life am I most looking forward to God "wiping away"?

How can I share this "ultimate hope" with someone who is currently suffering?
