April 27: Seeking the Kingdom First

Scripture: "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." — Matthew 6:33

Our priorities determine our destination. Truth teaches us that there is a "Hierarchy of Importance" in the universe. When we place the "Kingdom of God" at the center, everything else falls into its proper place. Love for God must be our "supreme motivation," and love for our neighbor our "constant practice."

"Seeking the Kingdom" means aligning our values with the character of Christ. It means valuing Truth over convenience, Mercy over judgment, and Humility over status. It is a radical way of living that often contrasts with the "success-driven" culture around us. But it is the only way that leads to "prosperous and fruitful" living.

The promise is that "all these things" (our basic needs) will be added. This is a call to trust in God's providence. We don't have to "obsess over earthly things" that won't help us in eternity. God knows what we need before we even ask. When we are "fully devoted" to His work, He becomes fully responsible for our care.

Check your "priority list" today. Is the Kingdom of God at the top, or has it been pushed down by the "anxieties and ill-ease" of life? Spend time "nourishing your soul" with the things of God. You will find that when He is first, the "rest of the pieces" of your life start to fit together.

Reflection Questions:

What "earthly thing" has been taking up too much of my focus lately?

How can I practically "seek the Kingdom" in my specific job or family role?

Do I truly trust that God will "add all these things" if I put Him first?
