April 28: Guided into All Truth

Scripture: "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth..." — John 16:13

We are not left to navigate the complexities of life alone. The "Spirit of Truth" is our personal Tutor and Guide. He takes the "inspired word" and applies it to our specific situations, giving us "understanding in temporal as well as in spiritual matters." To walk with the Spirit is to have a "light that illuminates the darkness."

The Holy Spirit "leads" us; He doesn't "drive" us. He speaks in a "still small voice" that requires us to be quiet and attentive. As we "delight in His Word," the Spirit "stamps" its truths upon our souls. He shows us "what is to come," not to satisfy our curiosity, but to prepare us for the "final crisis" and the "glory beyond."

A "knowledge of the truth" depends more on "pureness of purpose" and "simplicity of faith" than on "strength of intellect." We don't have to be "trained pastors" to understand the essentials of salvation. If we are "earnest and dependent," the Spirit will reveal the "way, the truth, and the life" to us.

Invite the Spirit to be your Guide today. Ask Him to "reveal the fake" (the deceptions of the enemy) and to "nourish your soul" with the "real deal" of the Gospel. Be willing to follow where He leads, even if it's into "unfamiliar territory." You are safe in the hands of the One who knows the end from the beginning.

Reflection Questions:

When was the last time I felt the "Spirit of Truth" prompting me to change an action or a thought?

How can I develop a more "pure purpose" and "simple faith" in my Bible study?

What "fake" thing (a worldly philosophy or a false self-image) do I need the Spirit to "reveal" today?
