June 8: Called to Witness

Chapter 8

Scripture Theme: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

Are you waiting for a pastoral ordination before you start sharing your faith with others?

The Great Commission was not given exclusively to paid, professional ministers, but to every person who claims ownership of Christ’s salvation. Every disciple is explicitly called to be an active, functioning witness in their personal sphere of influence.

When members act as passive observers in the pews, the progress of the gospel slows to a crawl, and the church itself stagnates. Furthermore, a non-witnessing Christian rapidly loses their own spiritual vitality, becoming prone to doubts and complaints.

The blueprint for church growth requires total member involvement: "The work of God in this earth can never be finished until the men and women comprising our church membership rally to the work, and unite their efforts with those of ministers and church officers" (*Testimonies for the Church*, Vol. 9, p. 117).

Ecclesiastical doctrine confirms that witnessing is a vital, non-negotiable expression of a genuine conversion experience. The church functions at its best when it operates as a training center, equipping every believer for personal ministry.

Reflection Question 1: Who has God placed in your immediate circle of influence—at work, at home, or in your neighborhood—who needs your unique testimony?

Reflection Question 2: What personal fear or insecurity is stopping you from viewing yourself as a fully capable, active minister for Christ?
