Sermon Summary - Before the Beginnings

Sermon Summary: Before the Beginning
by Pastor Fred Dana
Main Scripture
Introduction
This presentation addresses the grand cosmic origins of the struggle between good and evil, answering profound philosophical questions regarding why an all-loving, all-powerful Creator permits suffering, tragedy, and pain. The message takes the mind back to a reality existing before the creation of Earth to examine the nature of the Godhead and the genesis of cosmic rebellion. It posits that a correct comprehension of God's infinite, immeasurable character is required to dismantle the foundational deceptions of the enemy, highlighting that the entire timeline of human history serves to completely vindicate the loving character of God.
The Three Main Points
The Infinite Nature of the Triune Godhead
The Origin of Cosmic Misunderstanding and Pride
The Accusation Against Divine Law and the Necessity of Time
Conclusion
The first major deception of the enemy frames the Creator as an unfair, unjust, and arbitrary tyrant—an accusation that continues to drive earthly skepticism during moments of tragedy and loss. To safely dismantle this lie without destroying freedom of choice, God permits the great controversy to play out across time, allowing the true fruits of sin to become fully manifest. Ultimately, angels who never sinned were saved entirely by their faith in the infinite nature of the Son of God, and humanity is called to a similar unreserved surrender, trusting that the cosmic timeline will flawlessly validate the Creator's enduring character of love.

by Pastor Fred Dana
Main Scripture
"Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure." — Isaiah 46:9-10
- The biblical definition of an infinite God places Him entirely outside the structural constraints of time and space, allowing Him to view the past, middle, and end of history as an outspread, present reality.
- The physical universe functions merely as a temporary tent that the Creator can easily set up, step inside, or step completely out of, proving He is fundamentally immeasurable in size, age, power, and presence.
- God possesses absolute omniscience, meaning He simultaneously reads, processes, and holds the thoughts of billions of beings across the universe, knowing their decisions before they are even spoken.
- Because the fullness of the infinite Godhead dwelt bodily in Christ, no created being could ever be voted into or achieve equality with the Creator, as finite nature can never replicate infinite attributes.
The Origin of Cosmic Misunderstanding and Pride
- Before the creation of Earth, finite, perfect angels had to be progressively educated regarding the infinite nature of their Creator, as a sudden revelation of His total majesty would induce mental overload.
- God the Father revealed Himself as an unapproachable light and consuming fire to teach created beings their absolute dependence on Him for sustained life, while God the Son revealed Himself on their level as Michael the Archangel to establish a personal relationship of reciprocal love.
- Lucifer, the highest of the covering cherubs, failed to grasp the infinite nature of the Godhead, naturally mistaking Michael for a fellow created angel who was receiving arbitrary favoritism from the Father.
- Although the Father explicitly called Michael into the unapproachable light, sat Him on the eternal throne, and declared Him the Creator of the angels, Lucifer chose to reject this reality, allowing pride to warp his natural curiosity into insolent, calculated rebellion.
The Accusation Against Divine Law and the Necessity of Time
- Lucifer organized a calculated campaign of sympathy among his angelic friends by claiming that perfect, holy beings had no logical need for a restrictive law over them.
- He systematically distorted the protective hedge of divine law—which is simply a practical description of how selfless love operates—by framing it as an unfair, arbitrary imposition meant to force submission to Michael.
- When the Holy Spirit and loyal angels pleaded with Lucifer to repent, he interpreted God's immense patience and offer of pardon as structural weakness, imagining his cunning was successfully forcing the Creator to yield.
- When full rebellion matured into open warfare, God chose to cast Satan out rather than instantly destroying him, because immediate execution would cause the universe to obey out of paralyzing fear, permanently destroying the free will required for genuine love to exist.
Quotes
- "He that rules in the heavens is one who sees the end from the beginning... God is not stuck in time, but God sees time all spread out before Him. He sees the end, He sees the middle, He sees the beginning all at the same time in the present."
- "The heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain Thee... Nothing can contain the almighty, infinite God—not the temple, not the sky, not the universe, not anything. What we can do with a tent, God can do with the whole universe."
- "True love and true trust can't exist with that kind of fear. Love would cease to be freely chosen; freedom of choice would basically be gone. Since God's governing principle is love, that kind of fear wasn't acceptable to Him."
- "All this anti-trinitarianism is just a rehash of the devil's original complaints. It does not comprehend the nature of God, and it's going to end badly for those who hang onto it, because Michael's true position is God—He is equal to the Father."
Reflection Questions
- When processing personal suffering, unexpected losses, or corporate tragedies, do you subtly default to the enemy's first deception by questioning whether the Creator is truly fair, just, or loving?
- Knowing that the law of God is not an oppressive restriction but a protective description of how selfless love works, in what areas of your life are you treating His commands as arbitrary rules rather than a loving hedge?
- Reflecting on how unfallen angels were preserved entirely by their faith in the true identity of the Son of God, are you fully submitting your life to Christ as an absolute, infinite Savior, or are you holding back parts of your trust?
