This sermon investigates the spiritual impediments delaying the long-awaited outpouring of the Holy Spirit in latter rain power. While believers are commanded to earnestly ask for heavenly showers to finish God's work, the message emphasizes that asking alone is insufficient if hearts simultaneously harbor attitudes and environments that grieve the Spirit. It posits that receiving the latter rain requires meeting specific divine conditions—namely, embracing both justification and sanctification so that vessels are kept clean, holy, and fully surrendered to reflect the character of Christ.

The Three Main Points

The Danger of Asking Amiss and Grieving the Spirit

* Believers are divinely commanded to pray for the latter rain, yet Scripture warns that prayers can be asked amiss when individuals seek divine power without preparing a welcoming spiritual atmosphere in their personal lives and homes.
* Grieving the Holy Spirit prevents the reception of the divine seal in the forehead, which Scripture defines as having the Father’s holy name and spotless character reproduced in the mind.
* Spiritual compromise with worldly standards gives believers the mindset of Babylon rather than the pure mind of Christ, causing heavenly blessings to be withheld until the church truly puts away spiritual unfaithfulness.

The Full Scope of Christ's Righteousness

* While modern believers readily accept justification and the pardon of sins, there is widespread resistance to sanctification, which is the essential work of allowing God to cleanse the soul from all unrighteousness and make the life genuinely holy.
* True righteousness by faith is the foundation of the loud cry message and must never be separated into cheap grace; it demands both the forgiveness of past guilt and active victory over every known defect of character.
* The Holy Spirit is holy by definition, meaning that those who pray for His abundant outpouring must willingly submit their hearts to God's refining light and allow Him to remove every besetting sin.

Keeping the Vessel Clean and Right Side Up

* Preparing for the latter rain does not involve waiting for a future crisis to begin the work of crucifixion; dying to self and pride must take place daily and hourly in the present.
* Believers are called to approach God with the simple, dependent faith of little children, trusting completely in His power to supply every spiritual need and fit them for translation.
* When the vessel of the soul is cleansed, turned right side up, and continually opened toward heaven through repentance and surrender, the Lord promises to impart His grace and shield His people with a wall of fire in the final test.

Conclusion
The outpouring of the latter rain is not withheld because God is reluctant to give good gifts to His children, but because His people must comply with the divine conditions of holiness. Overcoming pride, selfishness, worldliness, and every wrong word and action is the essential preparation for the final refreshing. Believers are called today to turn their vessels right side up, die to self without delay, and allow the Holy Spirit to reproduce the lovely character of Jesus in their lives to finish His work on earth.
